Returns & Refunds Policy

At Castle Lighting, we want you to be happy with your purchase. If you change your mind, receive a damaged item, or experience a problem with a product, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

Online Purchases – Change of Mind

Under Irish and EU consumer law, when purchasing online you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without having to provide a reason.

To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us within 14 days of receiving your order.

Once you have informed us that you wish to cancel your order, the goods must be returned to us within a further 14 days.

Condition of Returned Items

Please take reasonable care of products while they are in your possession.

You may inspect an item in the same way you reasonably would in a shop. However, if the item has been handled, used or installed beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functionality, we may make a reasonable deduction from the refund to reflect any reduction in its value.

Where reasonably possible, items should be returned:

  • Complete and with all components and accessories

  • In their original packaging

  • Securely packaged to prevent damage during return

  • With your order number or proof of purchase

The above conditions do not affect your statutory rights in relation to faulty goods.

Return Delivery Costs

If you are returning an item because you have changed your mind, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to us.

We strongly recommend using a tracked and appropriately insured delivery service, particularly when returning fragile lighting products.

For large, bulky or fragile products that cannot reasonably be returned using standard postal services, please contact us before arranging the return.

If an item is faulty, damaged or incorrect, reasonable return costs will be covered by Castle Lighting where applicable.

Refunds

Once your return has been received and checked, we will process the applicable refund.

Where you exercise your statutory right to cancel an online purchase, we will refund:

  • The purchase price of the returned goods

  • The original standard delivery charge, where applicable

If you selected a more expensive delivery method than our standard delivery option, the additional delivery cost is not refundable.

Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction unless otherwise agreed.

We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned goods or you provide evidence that the goods have been sent back, whichever occurs first.

Damaged or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order as soon as possible after delivery.

If your item arrives damaged, defective or you receive an incorrect product, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible at info@castlelighting.ie or 066 714 2100.

Where possible, please provide:

  • Your order number

  • Details of the problem

  • Photographs showing any damage or defect

  • Photographs of the packaging where the item was damaged during delivery

Reporting delivery damage promptly helps us deal with the matter quickly but does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

Faulty Products

All products supplied by Castle Lighting must meet the requirements of Irish consumer law.

If a product is faulty, not as described, or does not perform as it reasonably should, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances and when the fault occurs.

If a fault occurs within 30 days of receiving the product, you may have the right to reject the goods and receive a full refund.

After 30 days, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, and in certain circumstances a price reduction or refund.

These rights are separate from and are not affected by any manufacturer's warranty supplied with the product.

Damage caused by misuse, incorrect installation, accidental damage, normal wear and tear or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions is not considered a product fault.

Installed Products

We strongly recommend checking your product carefully before installation.

For change-of-mind returns, installing, altering or using a product may reduce its value and may affect the amount that can be refunded.

This does not limit your statutory rights where a product is faulty.

Electrical products should always be installed by a suitably qualified person where required.

Products That Cannot Be Returned for Change of Mind

The statutory right to cancel may not apply to certain products, including:

  • Products made specifically to your measurements or specifications

  • Clearly personalised or customised products

  • Other products where an exemption from the statutory cancellation right applies under Irish consumer law

This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty or not as described.

Please note that an item being discounted or on sale does not, by itself, remove your statutory consumer rights.

In-Store Purchases

The statutory 14-day cooling-off period applies to qualifying distance purchases such as purchases made online. It does not automatically apply where an item is purchased in our physical store simply because you have changed your mind.

Your statutory rights continue to apply to faulty or incorrectly described products.

Cancelling Before Dispatch

If you wish to cancel an order before it has been dispatched, please contact us as soon as possible on 066 714 2100 or at info@castlelighting.ie.

If your order has already been dispatched, it will normally be dealt with under the returns procedure above.
